EVENTS

VENDOR'S ROOM

Since this is a specialty convention, you don't have to search a large Dealer's Room for the one vendor selling yaoi and other alternative romance, you have a selection! Our vendor's room will include a variety of dealers and artists that will be selling their wares directly to you! Maybe you'll discover a new web comic series to follow or add some prints to your collection of art. Grab some fun swag for yourself or a friend or some merchandise featuring your favorite series.

*Even though this is a specialty convention, you'll find stuff that's appeals to all geeks at heart!

MANGA SWAP/LIBRARY

Do you have gently used manga, comics, and novels that are just taking up space? Bring them to Nijicon to swap for something new. Who knows, maybe you’ll find that book that’s been long out-of-print or discover a new series you’d like to add to your collection.

It will work on the "Take a Book, Leave a Book" principle, no money will be exchanged. Those that contribute to the library will be allowed in first!

CHECK OUT THE FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE! - THE ONE

(POPCORN/SNACKS WILL BE PROVIDED)

This romantic comedy takes the conventions of the genre and gives it a stylishly queer twist – think Philadelphia Story meets Latter Days – or, better yet, a comedic updating of the 1982 groundbreaker Making Love.

Hunky Daniel (Jon Prescott) couldn’t have it better – great parents, a successful career as an investment banker, and the beautiful Jen (Margaret Anne Florence) as his fiancée. A seemingly perfect life… but there is one temptation that may derail his best laid plans for the straight-and-narrow: he has a thing for Tommy (Ian Novick), a charming former college classmate who is now openly gay. After a few drinks, Daniel succumbs to his repressed desires and makes a one time “mistake.” Soon after their initial tryst, the normally jaded Tommy falls head over heels in love, but Daniel wants nothing more of him or his dazzlingly seductive smile – he’s back with Jen, determined to marry her. With Tommy’s friends warning him against his involvement with a straight man and Daniel’s pledge of heterosexually, it would seem that nothing will come of them… but love and lust have a way of messing up even the best laid plans of man. A refreshingly funny story of coming out as well as a belated coming-of-age tale that sparkles with witty dialogue and believable characters.

PANELS

THE PANEL APPLICATION PERIOD BEGINS JUNE 15TH, 2016
*Please read the info below to familiarize yourself with our policies*

Nijicon Panels & Workshops:

Like all conventions, a large portion of Nijicon’s programming is dedicated to panels and workshops. And we look to you, the future attendees to provide interesting themes and fun topics to this aspect of the convention--maybe a panel discussing the popularity of “slash” in fanworks or perhaps a presentation of the evolution and acceptance of gay couples in modern media? An open forum discussion on the future of all LGBTQ individuals in the entertainment industry, perhaps? We can’t wait to see what you all will come up with.

However, before the creative juices begin to flow, please take a second to read through the policies listed below:

Who can host a panel?

Any Nijicon attendee!*

If you have the passion to host a panel at Nijicon,

whether it is just one of you or a group of your best friends, we want you.

Our only requirement is to have fun while engaging your audience

(No one wants to be lectured).

If you are under 18(16-17), you must have another host with you that is 18+

*You must be registered for Nijicon in order to host a panel at the convention. Please continue reading for guidelines for 18+ content panels

How do I submit my ideas for Panels?

All panel & workshop ideas must be made by using the Nijicon Panel Submission form(Please use the button at the bottom of the page).

Be sure to fill out all required sections of the Panel Request Form to the best of your ability(The more details you can give us about your panel idea, the better grasp we will have of your presentation).

YOU MUST SUBMIT SEPARATE APPLICATIONS FOR EACH PANEL/WORKSHOP IDEA

18+ Panels & Workshops:

18+ panels & workshops are any that contain graphic, sexual, extremely violent or obscene material and is not suitable for minors. If you are not sure if your panel/workshop contains 18+ material and deserves an 18+ rating, then chances are that it probably does.

Like all the other 18+ areas/events of Nijicon, 18+ bracelets are required to enter. There will also be room clears before and after each 18+ panel/workshop.

If Nijicon discovers that any panels & workshops that were not submitted as 18+ contain adult material, they will automatically be cancelled with no reimbursement.

Types of Panelists and Maximum Panelists:

"Panel Hosts" are considered the primary organizer/s and creator/s of each individual panel/workshop. For reimbursement purposes, a maximum of 2 Panel Hosts will be considered for each event(Please note that consideration doesn't equal a reimbursement, these are at the discretion of the Department Head).
