OCTOBER 22-23, 2016

Greater Philadelphia Expo Center - Oaks,PA

NijiCON

Subtitle

With the convention set the week before Halloween(Our personal favorite holiday!), we decided to have our own cosplay contest to celebrate the season! This event will be hosted by the amazing cosplay group Top Hats N Frills Cosplay!

Please make sure to thoroughly read the rules below before entering!
(This is a fun event so the rules and spirit aren't very formal).
And while there will be a prize for each category,
we will also award Runners Up certificates as well.

Cosplay Competition Rules and Award Categories

All costumes are welcome, whether they are from a yaoi/yuri or not (everyone loves a good fanon ship).
Please make sure that all sensitive areas (Nipples and buttocks/crotch) are covered with at least 1 inch
of fabric on all sides. We understand that some characters have more risqué outfits, however what is
appropriate for them to be wearing may not quite be appropriate for public consumption.

Please bring reference images for the judges. They may not be familiar with the outfit that was worn by
your character for 3 panels in volume 128 of the manga.

Be prepared to answer questions regarding your cosplay if you made it by, what fabrics you used, any
special techniques you may have used, things of that nature.

In regards to all costumes, we ask that all participants follow the convention guidelines.

The cosplay contest will be divided into 4 major award sections:

GENDER-BENDS:
Handmade or store bought or any combination in between, everyone competing
is eligible for this unique award. To be considered your cosplay must portray the character as
the opposite gender from canon. We love to see the creativity that goes into the re-imagining of
your favorite characters. Contestants in this category are also eligible to place in other
categories as applicable.

GROUP COSPLAY:
If you are cosplaying as a part of a group, you can let us know and we can judge
you together. What we are looking for is a cohesive group, all characters preferably from the
same series, but different series taking place in the same universe will also be accepted. Groups
of friends cosplaying from different sources will not be accepted, even though we know how fun
it is to all cosplay together. Contestants in this category are also eligible to place in other
categories as applicable.

HAND-MADE:
Exactly what it says on the can, this group is for participants who made their
cosplays by hand. To qualify for this group, you will need to have made at least 85% of the
costume yourself. WIP pictures are encouraged so the judges can see your process. You will be
required to answer some questions about your cosplay in this group. Character embodiment will
not be taken into account in this group. Judging for this category will take into account
craftsmanship and skill level.

CHARACTER EMBODIMENT:
This category is more for those of you who bought your cosplays, you
guys deserve a category too. This group will be judged upon accuracy of actual character
embodiment. You will have a set amount of time on stage to demonstrate your best portrayal of
the character. Judging for this category will take into account accuracy of cosplay and portrayal.

*There will be no skits, however each contestant will have ample time to show off
their embodiment of the character that they are cosplaying*
